THURSDAY APRIL 25  GODSTONE VILLAGE AND ALMSHOUSES      Village pond on the green is surrounded by interesting cottages and historic pubs. A narrow lane by the side of the White Hart leads to the Bay pond (a wildlife reserve) and it continues up to St Nicholas’ Church, St Mary’s chapel and a beautiful row of Alms Houses.  Take   the   A22   from   Caterham   to   Godstone.   There   are car   parks   near   the   pond   BUT   it   is   restricted   to   under 3   hours   parking.   There   is   road   side   parking   down   Ivy Mill   Lane   (Turn   right   off   A22   at   green   and   take   A25 towards   Bletchingly,   Ivy   Mill   Lane   is   first   turning   on left    at    end    of    the    green).    Meet    inside    the    Green Rooms (café facing the green) for coffee at 10.00am. WEDNESDAY MAY 29 THREE MILLS ISLAND BOW LONDON     Tidal Mills and mill house and buildings on River Lee, river navigation canal, narrow boats, nearby are the Bow Locks and there are views of new developments (lots of cranes and the Orbit) towards the Olympic park.   Train   to   Victoria   (or   Thames   Link   to   Blackfriars)   then take   the   District   Line   east   to   Bromley   by   Bow   (tube takes   approx.   30mins).   On   leaving   the   station   turn left    and    go    down    underpass    under    the    road,    turn right    at    top    of    underpass.    Continue    until    you    see Tesco   garage   and   store.   Pass   by   the   front   of   Tesco store   and   turn   right   into   Three   Mills   Lane   meet   by   the Bridge   at   11am.   There   is   a   café   there   but   it   may   not be   open.   However   the   large   Tesco   has   toilets   and   you can   get   takeaway   coffee   and   sandwiches   etc.   from there.
THURSDAY JUNE 20  SHOREHAM KENT           Pretty village with a bridge crossing the River Darent. Riverside cottages, and many other attractive buildings throughout the village. Church with a lych-gate, pubs etc. Take   the   A25   from   Godstone   eastwards   to   Riverhead (passing    through    Brasted    and    Sundridge).    At    the Riverhead   roundabout   turn   left.   Then   turn   right   at the   next   small   roundabout,   heading   towards   Otford (still   on   A25).   At   the   next   traffic   lights   turn   left,   onto the    A225    towards    Otford.    Go    straight    over    next roundabout    and    follow    the    A225    into    Otford.    At Otford    roundabout    (with    the    pond)    take    second turning    following    the    A225    pass    the    station    and round    the    sharp    left    hand    bend.    Continue    on    this road    for    about    1.5    miles,    Shoreham    is    the    second turning   on   the   left.   Continue   down   this   road   past   Ye Old   George   Inn,   over   the   river   bridge,   past   the   Kings Arms   to   a   T   junction.   Turn   left   into   Filston   Lane   and there   is   a   free   car   park   shortly   on   the   left.   Meet   in   the Kings Arms for coffee at 11am. WEDNESDAY JULY 17  TITSEY GARDENS     Gardens, Lakes and Countryside From   Wapses   Lodge   roundabout   on   the   A22,   take   the Woldingham     turning     follow     this     road     under     the railway    bridge    then    second    left    up    Halliloo    Valley Road   (Slines   New   Road).   At   the   end   T   Junction   (by   the pond)   turn   right   onto   the   Limpsfield   Road.   Follow   to the   roundabout,   then   go   straight   across   and   down Titsey   Hill.   Follow   the   road   to   Limpsfield   Village.   At   a sharp    left    bend    take    the    right    hand    turning    into Bluehouse    Lane.    Following    brown    historic    house signs   take   the   right   turn   into   Water   Lane   and   follow the   road.   Don’t   stop   at   first   car   park   but   continue over   cattle   grids   to   second   car   park   near   the   garden entrance.   Meet   at   11am   in   the   carpark   near   the   Tea room.    The    café    does    toasted    sandwiches,    quiches and   of   course   cakes.   Th ere   is   a   £5   entrance   fee   to   the gardens and all  transactions are cash only.
THURSDAY AUGUST 8 GREENWICH, LONDON   Cutty Sark, historic naval buildings, market, Queens House, parkland with observatory and views of London. There   are   many   routes   here.   From   Victoria   you   could take   the   underground   to   Westminster   and   then   the MBNA    river    clipper    from    Westminster    pier.    From London   Bridge   you   can   get   trains   that   will   take   you   to Greenwich,    or    you    can    also    take    a    mixture    of underground     trains     &     the     DLR     to     Greenwich Maritime   station.   From   London   Bridge   Station   you could   take   the   clipper   from   London   Bridge   pier.   Meet at the Cutty Sark at 11.30 WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 4 WESTERHAM KENT     Town Green, Church, Quebec House, Quaint Buildings and shops. From    Godstone    turn    eastwards    onto    the    A25    and follow     through     Oxted,     Limpsfield     and     on     into Westerham.   Continue   past   the   green   on   your   left   and the    bends    in    road    following    signs    to    main    town carpark.   Take   left   turn   into   carpark   just   after   sign   for Westerham   Place   Residential   Home.   Pay   and   display car   park,   [£3.50   day   rate].   Follow   footpaths   marked to   town   centre   which   will   take   you   up   through   the churchyard    onto    Westerham    Green    where    we    will meet at 10.45am by the church’s lych-gate.
