Welcome

The Caterham Art Group is a society of amateur and professional artists drawn from Caterham and the surrounding area in Surrey. The group has been active for over 50 years and currently boasts a membership of around 100. It is open to artists working in all the popular mediums - oil, watercolour, acrylic, pastel and scaperboard - and people with an interest in art. All abilities are catered for and beginners are encourage to join to further their ambitions

The group holds nine demonstrations/mini-workshops and three informal evenings throughout the year.

On three Saturdays a year the group organises painting workshops in the most popular mediums like watercolour, oil and pastel.

Annual Exhibition

The highlight of the year is the annual summer exhibition where members showcase their talents to a wider public audience.
Notice board FEBRUARY Demonstration At the  meeting on Wednesday February 28 we welcome back local professional artist Fiona Hooper. She will painting a landscape in oils using a palette knife. Visitors are welcome to join us; a £4 fee applies. It is a 7.30pm start.  Full details of all our events will be circulated by email in the Secretary’s monthly newsletter.  SUBSCRIPTIONS Subscriptions became due on January 1. The committee has recommended the fee remains at £25 and it has introduced a full-time student rate of £15. If paying by cheque this should be made out to Caterham Art Group. Contact the secretay via ermail at secretary@caterhamartgroup.org.uk if you would prefer to pay via BACS.  APRIL WORKSHOP The first of this year’s Saturday workshops takes place on April 14. It is being led by Paul Simmons . The medium is watercolour and the subject for the day, which Paul will demonstrate, is a Street scene with a cafe and people.  You can either tackle this subject or bring along your own reference material and do you own thing. What ever you choose to do Paul will be on hand throughout the day with help and guidance. The day will close with a quick critique.  Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day. Bring your own lunch.  Cost is £30 for members and £35 for non members.  Day starts at 10am with a 4pm finish. Bring your own lunch  ADVANCE NOTICE The group is organising a Summer School over four Saturdays in July and August. The tutor is Ian McManus and each Saturday will be devoted to a particular aspect of painting.
